DIY Vegan Face Mask Recipes

You don’t need to pay big bucks for a spa-style vegan face mask—you can make one yourself at home! Have fun, and don’t be afraid to add ingredients for your own unique spin on these awesome beauty must-haves.


1. Oatmeal & Lactic Acid

Combine equal parts of oatmeal and yogurt for a super hydrating mask. Oatmeal is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, as well as deeply hydrating. Yogurt is well-known for its moisturising powers. Soy yogurt contains lactic acid which is a mild exfoliant for glowing skin.

2. Avocado & Cocoa 

Avocado is one of my favourite foods to eat, and its health benefits are endless. This face mask uses avocado to moisturise and cleanse, the antioxidant benefits of cocoa powder to protect the skin, and agave nectar to soothe the skin! Combine 1/2 a mashed avo, 2 tsp of cocoa, 1 tsp of agave nectar and apply!


3. Banana & Tumeric

Bananas contain a multitude of ingredients that rejuvenate and nourish the skin. It will reveal fresh and dewy skin, and the bicarb soda will get deep down into the pores and break down dirt, oil and grime. Turmeric reduces inflammation, and has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. It may slightly stain the skin, so ensure you rinse well. Combine 1 ripe banana, 1 tsp of bicarb, 1/2 tsp of tumeric and apply!

4. The Hangover Mask 

Hangover skin has many needs! Cucumber cools, soothes and hydrates the skin and this mask couldn’t be easier. Grate 1 cucumber and mix with 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 3 crushed mint leaves. Relax and let the coolness soak into your skin!


5. Smoothie Mask

This is one of our favourites! So good you can eat it - literally. Make double the amount and you have yourself a refreshing antioxidant drink. Chop 1 banana and a handful of strawberries, pop them in a blender and add 1/2 freshly squeezed lemon. The lemon juice and banana work to combat acne and darkness in your skin. The strawberry contains salicylic acid which allows it to directly tackle breakouts!

As you can see, it is pretty easy to pamper your skin with just simple foods you have in your kitchen. Many fresh fruits, vegetables, and berries, especially the ones with high water content, will have a great moisturising effect on your skin!
